Curriculum refers to all the learning experiences of a student in both scholastics and co scholastics areas.

Our curriculum is diligently designed in such a manner, keeping in mind the national and international standards and evolving global trends in education. The taught curriculum focuses on honing problem solving skills which are persistent in children, critical thinking, creativity etc. The assessments which are onerous in the traditional method is made simpler and child friendly at our school.

Akshara prepares students to face the upcoming challenges of academics, which help them in the development of an able body and lays the foundation of a solid career. Students are encouraged to participate in diverse activities, and are provided with world class training facilities by professionally trained teachers. The objective is to inculcate self-learning skills, which is an essential element for success in the secondary school.

Ours is a comprehensive curriculum that provides broad based education where students study Languages, Mathematics, Social Studies and Science besides Creative, Performing Arts. The curriculum inculcates diligence and application based learning.

The students are taken towards excellence through theory, experiments, project work, guest lectures and field trips.

The young teens in the school are embarking on a lifelong task of developing personal identity and acquiring social skills. Academically, they are developing higher levels of thinking and reasoning skills, while socially, peer group approval gains importance as they begin to develop their own values and make their own decisions.

Co curricular activities are incorporated into academic time table as per CCE guidelines whereby students have an opportunity to learn the basics of these skills by being exposed to them regularly.

Methodology ::

The schools follow the CBSE syllabus which can be integrated with the International Baccalaureate IB-PYP Primary Years Programmes. The uniqueness of our schools largely lies in this blended approach of offering the best of Indian content using the best International teaching methodologies. Teaching learning methodologies of our school comprises of three components of the curriculum that is written, taught and assessed.

Cross-curricular linkages are the connections between different disciplines, subjects or knowledge across the curriculum. Each of the programmes prescribes these linkages to different levels and through different techniques. Akshara curriculum facilitates these linkages most noticeably through key concepts.

We use teaching strategies to make student go beyond and learn individually. There are a variety of teaching strategies in akshara, to improve student learning like Games/Experiments/Simulations , Field trips, Inquiry based learning, learner centred teaching, differentiated teaching etc.

We follow the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) system for all grades as prescribed by CBSE. The assessment is based mainly on activities, written worksheets and oral assessments. A Comprehensive and Continuous detailed profile of every child is maintained.

Whilst high academic achievement is a priority, the school aims to create a ‘community’ of well rounded individuals, where a spirit of cooperation and mutual respect exists amongst the students and teachers. Teachers support the students in assessing their own work by providing assessment criteria’s. Students go through all the assessment steps through the Formative and Summative Assessment. Regular field trips are organised based to help children understand the Inquiry Module in progress.

The classroom transactions are designed to generate inter-disciplinary knowledge through interactive sessions by creating opportunities for processing information and technology. The focus being on kindling the spirit of inquiry within the child and conferring upon it the responsibility for their own knowledge. Every unit contains the added ingredient of skill and attitudinal enhancement. The focus being on attributes, that can help individuals and groups become responsible members of national and global communities. The above mentioned components are integral to the holistic development of children.

Students maintain what they consider their best work collectively in a student’s portfolio. The portfolio is shared by the students with their parents in a Student-Led Conference. This conference allows the students to play an active role in reporting their progress to their parents.
